Before moving on to the issue of ideal weight for men, let me first tell you that the term “ideal weight” is very confusing and very vague. What is ideal for you may not be ideal for the man standing next to you. There cannot be any uniform ideal weight for men or for that matter, even women, in that way. But there is definitely something called a healthy weight range for men.
A healthy weight range or ideal weight for men will depend on the BMI. The BMI has to be between 19 and 25 to be regarded as ideal. If a man’s BMI falls below 19, then he is underweight. If his BMI exceeds 25, he is overweight. If his BMI exceeds 30, he is obese and he requires the help of a slimming routine or program to trim his bulging belly. If you are a man with greater fat and muscle ratio and a huge frame, you will be categorized into the upper portion of the weight range.
There are some BMI charts which are specifically made for men or women. Then there are BMI charts which are unisex and don’t distinguish between the sexes. So when you want to know the ideal weight for men, it is better to go for the alternative method that is based on fat percentage.
There are more things to consider. The body type of a Caucasian will vary from the body type of an Asian or an African. Thus what is an ideal weight for men according to a Caucasian scale may not be so for an Asian male. Ideal body weight is found out by measuring weight with height, other factors remaining constant. Now Caucasians are pretty tall, but compared to them Asian males are pretty diminutive while Africans have a stocky build.
Thus it is very difficult to reach an ideal weight for men just like that in a uniform manner. But if you search around in the internet, you will find plenty of ideal weight for men charts and BMI calculators that you can avail of to find out your ideal body weight.
