Without much beating around the bush, let me get straight to the point. There is nothing as such called an ideal weight for men but for our own convenience, we have devised this term. In this article I will try to give you a variety of ideal weight ranges for men. Read on to know more.
Let me give you a chart which will help you understand what an ideal weight is for men. A man whose height is 6 feet 4 inches should weigh between 155 and 204 pounds. If his height is 6 feet 3 inches, his ideal body weight should be between 151 and 199 pounds. For a man whose height is 6 feet 2 inches or 6 feet 1 inch, an ideal body weight will be between 147 and 194 and 143 and 189 pounds respectively.
If your height is five feet 11 inches your ideal body weight should vary between 135 and 178 pounds. 128 to 168 pounds is the ideal body weight for a man whose height is 5 feet 9 inches. 121 to 159 pounds is the ideal weight range for a man whose height is 5 feet 7 inches.
And for a really short man, the healthiest weight range varies between 100 pounds and 149 pounds or lower than that. The upper limits of all these weight ranges are meant for men with a stocky build, larger frame and significantly greater fat and muscle ratio.
In the weight chart given above, the ideal body weight for men has been based on body fat percentage. More things to take into consideration while calculating ideal weight for men will be the gender issue, the age factor, ethnicity and race and other such things.
When men have ten to twenty percent body fat, they are regarded as having normal weight. If the percentage of body fat varies between 20 and 25, he will be regarded as overweight. And if the body fat percentage exceeds 25 then the man is severely obese.
Bioelectrical impedance, skin fold calipter and under water weighing are some of the methods in which you can accurately measure your body fat percentage.
