Finding your ideal body weight is more complex than simply consulting a chart. Every woman’s body is different, and most people fail to take their body type and frame size into consideration when figuring out what their ideal weight is. Familiarizing yourself with your body type and frame size can help aid you on your journey to the healthiest you possible. First, I will talk about the three main body types and what they mean for you. First, we have the “Ectomorphic” body type. This body type is usually the one that is envied by most women. It is typically described as the “model” type.

Ectopmorphs tend to be tall and thin, but suffer when it comes to building muscle. Due to low muscle mass, those with the Ectomorphic body type should try to stay on the low end of the proper weight range for their height. Next, we have the “Endomorphic” body type. This body type is generally characterized by having more than a healthy share of body fat. Due to a naturally low metabolism, Endomorphs tend to gain weight very easily and have a hard time losing it.

Fortunately for Endomorphs, this body type gains muscle quite easily and with that, can maintain a healthy weight by concentrating on building muscles – which, in turn, act as a fat burning furnace. Endomorphs should try to focus on staying in the middle of the proper weight range for their height. Finally, there is the “Mesomorph” body type. Mesomorphs are characterized as being powerful and muscular, but generally lack the “feminine” shape that most women desire.

Fortunately, Mesomorphs are blessed with general fitness, strength, power, and a high metabolism due to their well defined muscle mass. Because muscle weighs more than fat, Mesomorphs are generally healthiest in the higher range of their proper weight for their height. The next thing to consider is your frame size. Although any body type can have any size frame, this is still another factor that can aid you in learning your best weight. Discovering your frame size is as easy as measuring the circumference of your wrist and matching it up here…

For women less than 5’2” (155cms) tall… If your wrist is less than 5.5” (140mm), you have a small frame. If your wrist is 5.5” – 5.75” (140-146mms), you have a medium frame.

If your wrist is more than 5.75” (146mm), you have a large frame. For women who are 5’2” – 5.5” (155cms – 163cms) tall… If your wrist is less than 6.0” (152mm), you have a small frame. If your wrist is 6.0” – 6.25” (152 – 159mms), you have a medium frame.

If your wrist is more than 6.25” (159mm), you have a large frame. For women who are more than 5.5” (163cms) tall… If your wrist is less than 6.25” (159mm), you have a small frame. If your wrist is 6.25” – 6.5” (159 – 165mms), you have a medium frame. If your wrist is more than 6.5” (165mm), you have a large frame.

What does this mean for you?

Well, in general, the larger your frame, the heavier your ideal weight is. When you combine this with your body type, it is often easier to gauge where you should be within the ideal body weight range. As you’ve learned, finding your ideal weight can be a bit more complex than simply using a chart.

However, these charts can give you a great starting point and let you know if you are in within range of being the ideal weight for your individual body. Refer to the chart below…
